Pig on Route 66 Again

I meant to post this video sooner, but I totally forgot! More pictures of Pig driving Route 66 in Oklahoma.

Pig’s Big Adventure to Iowa – The Conclusion

Due to the two humans on the trip being tired, it was decided that a little dawdling in Oklahoma was in order. Since Route 66 is right outside Oklahoma City, Pig wanted to travel down this historic highway.

Pig found a few places where you can see the original concrete road bed.

Then Pig saw the mother lode – a half mile stretch of the original road historic Route 66 that is being preserved.

We decided to check it out more thoroughly on the way back.

Pig saw this neat bridge on the way into Wellston OK.

Pig particularly liked this house because of the cool architecture and the fact that the paint was the same color as he is!

PigĀ stopped long enough to check the Historic Route 66′s Web Site to make sure it was okay to drive the car on it. And it was, so onward we went with Pig.

It was then when Pig had his biggest adventure of all on the original section of Route 66.

After Pig finished his adventure, we headed to the Boundary Restaurant for lunch.

While Pig was there, he met another Wood E. Pig.
Pig's New Buddy, Flying Pig

Because to eat there would have been cannabalism, Pig And Woody spent time talking about what happens when pigs fly and dangle.
DSC_3155

After lunch, Pig, Paula and R left Woody and his super nice waitress buddies at the Boundary and headed south. We stopped in Pauls Valley for the evening. Here’s Pig chillaxin’ with some dinner from Baum’s ice cream in front of the TV.

We headed to Houston the following day. We all have fond memories of this trip.

Pig E. Bank’s Big Adventure – Day 8

Soon it was time to begin the journey back to Houston. On the way back, Pig and friends stopped in Ames, Iowa. Paula went to school at Iowa State.

Here’s Pig sitting at the base of the Campanile. You can see Central Campus and Carrie Chapman-Catt Building (a.k.a Old Botany) in the background.

While checking out Central Campus, Pig took the opportunity to climb a tree.
DSC_3012

Pig even took the time to be like Forrest Gump and dangle from the tree a couple times.

Once Pig finished dangling, he need to use the restroom so we headed over to the Memorial Union.
DSC_3036

However, a watched Pig never pees so we left him alone for a while.

One adventure that Pig had at Iowa State was tightrope walking.
Here he is practicing his balancing act close to the ground.

And here Pig is doing his high wire version.

After Pig’s high wire adventure, we had to book it south to Oklahoma to avoid bad weather.

Pig’s Big Adventure to Iowa – Day 7

It was time to put up the Christmas Tree and Pig decided that he would be the artistic director of this particular endeavour. But first he had to find the right spot to watch the decorating festivities from.

Pig checked out the vantage point from the wreath on the wall…
DSC_2871

And while the gold lame Ribbon went beautifully with his blue color, it wasn’t exactly the right spot for viewing the tree and well the gold was just a bit too flashy for Pig’s tastes.

So then Pig tested the view from within the tree.
DSC_2874

However, that was a little too close to the action.

So finally, Pig settled on the top of Charlie’s head.
DSC_2875
It gave him the vantage he needed, and it cut the glare from the top of Charlie’s head.

Day six had Pig visiting one of the local grain elevators.

Here’s Pig in the back of Chuck’s Nissan Truck. Pig is always safe and wears his seatbelt when travelling.

He was amazed by the huge piles of corn.

Once we got back to Mom’s, Pig decided to explore the yard. He climbed the ladder next to the corn crib.

Pig checked out some old farm machinery.

Pig’s Big Adventure to Iowa – Day 4

After a day of rest, Pig was ready to explore Iowa Falls. He spent the afternoon touring the sites.

The First Stop was the Swinging Bridge

Pig (with a little boost from R) reads the plaque on the bridge.
DSC_2399

So while the bridge clearly says this….
DSC_2362

Pig decided to live on the edge a little and climb out on one of the struts
DSC_2403
(luckily Pig did not fall into the Iowa River below, we would have never got him back)

Once we got back up the hill and into Assembly Park, pig stopped to look back at where he had just been
DSC_2406

Pig decided to play for a while. He went down the slide.
DSC_2408

He played on the swing.

He climbed the little steel cactus

And he got on the merry-go-round
DSC_2424

Which unfortunately made him sick
DSC_2430

So Pig went to the fountain and rinsed out his mouth.
DSC_2439

Then we took him uptown to Estes Park. Where he checked out the acoustics of the Bill Riley Bandshell.
DSC_2442

Pig also paid a visit to Bill’s Statue.
DSC_2458

Then he checked out the Popcorn Stand.
DSC_2444

By this time, we were all cold and hungry so it was time to go have some lunch at the Red Rooster.
DSC_2460

Pig throughly enjoyed the french fries, but he didn’t eat the breaded loin since that would have been canabalism.
DSC_2462

Then it was down to check out the falls that give Iowa Falls it’s name.

After this stop, we basically put the pedal to the medal and got to Iowa. No more site seeing for Pig this day.

NOTE: Pig was not harmed by the barbed wire, it conveniently held him up and made him a little more stable while climbing the fence.
